In 1986, Julian Chichester left his career in the world of finance in London and went travelling to Thailand and Myanmar in search of antique furniture to bring back to his shop on Portobello Road, before ultimately setting up his own brand in 1995. Today, the brand is celebrated for expert workmanship, innovative finishes, and a design language that refuses to be boxed into a single style. Inspired by travel and the arts, and an admiration for innovation, their look is equal parts English classicism and contemporary elegance; a rare fusion that makes their work endlessly versatile.

Design That Pushes Boundaries

Julian Chichester draws inspiration from a rich lineage of 20th‑century designers, including Jean-Michel Frank, Marcel Breuer, Jacques Adnet, Marco Zanuso, and Karl Springer. These influences appear subtly throughout their collections: in sculptural silhouettes, refined detailing, and the brand’s signature use of luxurious, tactile materials such as gesso, églomisé glass, vellum, faux stingray, and aged brass.

One of the brand’s greatest strengths is their commitment to custom artistry. Many pieces can be tailored with bespoke finishes or adapted to client specifications, a practice rooted in their handmade production ethos, where each piece carries the touch of skilled artisans.
