A Living Room Revival
Relocating back to Edinburgh from Dubai with their two adorable Yorkshire Terriers, the clients purchased this renovated city centre townhouse, and while the house was beautifully decorated, it wasn’t feeling very ‘them’. Our brief was to transform the drawing room into a formal living space with wow factor. Inspired by the home of The Traitors, it needed to be bold and colourful, a place perfect for both cosy movie nights with pizza and lively cocktail parties. We incorporated the fireplace, chandelier and fender, alongside some of the clients’ existing pieces, such as the two swivel chairs which we then had reupholstered to work with the new colour palette.

Heritage Charm Meets Modern
To celebrate the original features while updating the space, we introduced new mouldings to break up the room’s generous proportions and layered teal tones across the walls, woodwork and iridescent textured paper within the panels. Custom sideboards were commissioned to ensure the perfect proportions. Alongside the fire surround, we reinstated traditional timber and brass bell pulls, reusing the original fixings from when they once operated throughout the house — a subtle but impactful nod to the home’s history.

Practical Doesn’t Have to Be Boring
Given the clients’ two dogs, durability was essential. A deep blue, washable velvet was selected for their bespoke Charlotte James sofas — luxurious yet hardwearing. Jewel tones of amber, ruby and blue complement the rich teal backdrop.
To ensure the room performs for both entertaining and downtime, a Samsung Frame TV was installed. Displaying artwork when not in use, it avoids competing with the fireplace while providing seamless functionality for film nights.

The Hosts with the Most
For the bar, we commissioned custom cabinetry to give the stunning arched alcove a new purpose, and we chose a striking iridescent mural and a lit onyx-effect bar top for the ultimate home bar set up. Bespoke antique glass tiles were cut to size to follow the curve up and round, completing the look.
Martini, anyone?
