Characterful spaces for the town and country mouse.

It’s been a busy time for the Jeffreys team and I haven’t been in the office much these past weeks because we’ve had a couple of really interesting design projects on the go for CALA Homes. On the back of the Liberton Grange job, we’ve literally just finished a superb showhome at The Meadow in Currie.

The location is superb, it’s on the edge of the Pentland Hills on the outskirts of Edinburgh with stunning scenery and walks aplenty yet a short bus hop into town.

We’ve been hard at work on the interiors of the new showhome, which have definitely been inspired by the location. We wanted to reflect the dual lifestyle of town and country life so it was important for us to design a home with character that’s live-able and flows throughout so we’ve introduced interesting feature walls using a combination of paint and wallpaper and lots of colours.

We’ve tried to create a light and calming space with pops of vibrant colour and fun, innovative wallpapers such as Dogs by Jane Churchill in the utility room - ideal for the whole family and why not have a bit of fun in what’s probably one of the most important rooms in the family home, not least because it’s one of my particular favourite designs! We’ve also introduced an absolutely gorgeous hot air balloon wallpaper by Manuel Canovas in the nursery, which I know even the mums and dads will love.

One of my personal favourites has to be the lounge. While there’s lots of vibrant colour and impactful designs in many of the other spaces; we’ve kept the lounge relaxed, light and fresh with most of the key pieces of furniture and walls in a calming, neutral colour. We’ve also incorporated colour in the accessories with a palette that picks up from the prints and artwork by some local artists.

This prime location has won our hearts and we’ve had great fun creating characterful spaces that will delight families looking for the best of both worlds.
