Design Director Alison Vance, is an Interior Designer with over 30 years experience in the Industry. Moving from Northern Ireland after heading her own Interior Design company there for 25 years, she has assisted managing director Jeff Laing to reconstruct the family business into what Jeffreys Interiors is today.
Working initially for auctioneers and valuers in Belfast she spent a lot of time going around large houses and estates in Ireland. Through that she became interested in interiors and particularly period interiors.
Alison soon started her own business and opened a shop in Belfast, dealing with a vast array of challenging projects. One of the highlights of her early years was working with David Hicks including on Baronscourt in Co Tyrone. David was a key teacher and inspiration to Alison.
When Jeff took over the family business George Jeffrey Limited in Lothian Road, he realised the business needed to change and through a mutual contact he brought in Alison to help him regenerate the original shop. At first splitting her time between her Belfast business and Edinburgh Alison then moved permanently to Jeffreys Interiors when they moved to their Stockbridge home 10 years ago.
A lot of changes have happened since then and from introducing Interior Design, it now makes up 80% of the business.
With such a huge depth of experience Alison has dealt with a vast array of projects from refurbishment of Stormont, the Parliament Building for Northern Ireland after it was partially destroyed by fire in 1995, to a castle in Pitlochry last year which involved considerable restoration, 10 grand chandeliers, bespoke handmade carpets, and commissioned works of art.
Alison has also been a judge with the Northern Design awards for a number of years and is a Regional Manager with the SBID.
